Patient Review 1:

When I first found Dr. Loshin I had a history of bad dentists, a partially complete root canal (my 3rd) and was shopping around for a new one. I was quite wary.

The initial visit set me a little bit at ease, as he was not at all pushy regarding the various things that could be done to my teeth (and they had many problems), and he was able to answer my questions extremely well. He even did some extra research for me and printed out some journal articles for me regarding specific questions I had.

Since I started with him, my teeth problems largely disappeared, something I never thought would be possible. Over the last few years, my teeth and gums are much much healthier than they have been for decades, and I feel better about my teeth than ever before.

He's always been extremely informative and professional, and his staff has been excellent as well. Since they moved to their new location, the office has a really modern and nice feel, and the new equipment seems high-end as well (I am no dental equipment expert, but that's the impression I get).

He is the only dentist I can say I have no complaints about, and he's the only dentist I've ever felt confident about recommending.

Absolutely the best dentist that I have ever been to. I required a partial denture and extensive crown work and the results were perfect. I believe that Dr. Loshin works very closely with his dental lab (which is on the same floor as his office) in order to get just the right "fit and finish" in the final product --- the results for me certainly exceeded my expectations. So, a complete professional, but also a heck of a nice guy.

Dr. Loshin and all of his staff are a team of complete professionals. The quality of the work is absolutely the best that I have ever experienced. I was very lucky to find Dr. Loshin. I had an extensive amount of dental history, work, repair, and cosmetic changes that I wished to complete. Dr. Loshin is very intelligent and keeps up on the latest dental technolgies, and treatments. Dr. Loshin created a detailed plan, the billing dept. calculated the costs and the work was completed in phases. Dr. Loshin has a passion for his work and is extremely articulate and very thorough. Dr. Loshin and his team provide SPECTACULAR results. They are a very effective team,and genuinely CARING. I was able to complete all of my neccessary work in three years. The work completed was very extensive. It included implants, many crowns, root canal completions, reworks, and others. I am extremely happy with the results, and I have learned to really, care for my teeth. It is absolultey amazing what a huge impact dental health has on your overall well being. It completely changed my life!

I have had quite a lot of dental work done in my life, and have usually been miserable (sometimes to the point of tears) the entire time I'm in the chair. I don't like people touching my teeth at all. So, I approach any new dentist with apprehension. However, Dr. Loshin and his staff welcomed me warmly and put me at ease from the start. I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes before being seen. Dr. Loshin did my first examination and X-rays, during which time he used a camera to show me a problem with my tooth on the TV located just above the chair. He met with me for at least half an hour to explain the results of his exam and discuss my priorities/goals for my teeth. He told me what I should get done and what was optional. He has always taken the time to fully explain what he is doing and why, along with ways for me to take better care of my teeth. The DVD's to watch during treatment and gift for completing my treatment were great bonuses as well. The front desk staff has worked with me to set up a payment plan, arranged to fit me in when my schedule was limited, and recognized me after only 1 or 2 visits. I'd wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Loshin and his office to anyone.

Dr. Loshin has been my dentist for ~8 years. He's very caring and quite a perfectionist! I am an artistan by trade, and I can assure you, he deals with his craft, like it's art. I also like a dentist that tells me what I need to do now, in order to hold on to my teeth in the future. He's very informative (tho not abrasive), always explaining every single procedure and as to why it's needed, or what options I can take. His staff has been with him forever. And, that says alot about how he treats people.

By the way, the new facility at One Union Square is... WOW! ... has his dental studio arts laboratory onsite, for matching the color, even tho it's my back tooth.

I have been a patient of Dr Loshin's since the late 90's and I have had nothing but first class service. I've had my fair share of dental "problems" and with each incident Dr. Loshin has taken the time to give me individual treatment to make sure I am completely satisfied when I leave. Recently I visited Dr Loshin because a porcelain crown on my lower front tooth broke. I play the bagpipes and explained to Dr Loshin that sometimes when I play I tend to bite too hard on my pipes thus causing undue stress on my teeth. Dr Loshin not only replaced the crown for me but he took the extra time to make a couple of different mouth guards for me to wear while I was playing my bagpipes. These guards have proved to very effective for me and my thanks go to Dr Loshin for going this extra mile for me. I would, and have, recommended him to my friends & family.

Dr. Loshin has been my husband's and my dentist since 1986. During that time he has helped me with crowns (front and back teeth), root canals, porcelain veneers, etc., as well as regular checkups and cleanings by his hygienist. I recently had two dental implants replacing two very visible front teeth. Another doctor did the actual implants, but Dr. Loshin did the porcelain crowns and all of the finish work. My new teeth look and feel great! The implants were a complete success. It takes a long time (almost six months) from start to finish to do dental implants, but it was worth it. I have had one porcelain veneer on another front tooth since the late 1980s, and it still looks fine. Dr. Loshin's staff is also fantastic--most of them have been with him since 1986. I am a "dental wimp", and Dr. Loshin and his staff are really great at communication and making me feel as comfortable as possible. They make dental visits as pleasant as possible. I recommend them highly!

I've been with Dr. Loshin since 1980 at the recommendation of one of his existing patients. I have always received careful gentle practical care from him. His hygienists are also the gentlest I've experienced. His office manager has been with him since before my first visit and I feel like family whenever I visit the office. His fees are not extravagant and generally fit into the ranges covered by my insurance co. I always recommend him to new comers to the area particularly those who dislike going to the dentist.

I recently saw Dr.Loshin for the first time. He spent 30 minutes talking with me about my previous experiences with dentistry and asking good questions to find out what was really important to me. This was great because I have had some complicated problems in the past with my mouth. He seemed very caring and not rushed. I am baffled by a couple of the negative reviews on this site- sounds like a diffeernt dentist. Since the negatives have similarities, I wonder if one disgruntled patient or a competitor is packing this site with untrue comments? Anyway, I feel totally comfortable. Will write more later after I have more visits.

I first saw Dr. Loshin seven years ago and had 10 sealants placed. I have had no cavities ever since. He was the first dentist who seemed to truly care about helping me prevent problems rather than just fix them. He and his hygienist gave me several good ideas that helped me keep my dental expenses low. Last year I broke a tooth and needed a crown. The fee was under $900, which I discovered, after checking around, was very reasonable for this type of crown in Seattle, and it looks great. I think this office is tops, and definitely fair fees for above average work. - rk

As I enter the office I am greeted by Janette's smiling face. Chris then comes and escorts me to the "Chair" and puts my "Dixie Chicks" in for me. Enter -- Dr. Loshin --- I love this man --- He is the most kind and caring dentist I have ever been to. And believe me, I was petrified of the dentist. He has actually made it an enjoyment for me to go to the dentist. He cares about "ME".

I too have Metlife Insurance, but it is well worth it to me to go off the preferred providers to go to Dr. Loshin because he is so FABULOUS.

I just don't understand all the negative comments. Is it Dentist politics, maybe some dentist jealousy because Dr. Loshin is so GREAT????? hmmmmm. I recommend Dr. Loshin 150%. Try him once and you'll never go anywhere else.

Last but not least, Clair cleans my teeth every 6 months and I think she is great and I don't think she is irritating at all. How rude? She is very sweet as all of Dr. Loshin's employees are.

Also, I got the opportunity to meet Peggy while Chris was on vacation and she is a Great stand in for Chris. Curls Rock, Peggy!!! ha ha ha

I went to Dr. Loshin's office for 12 years or so. I just switched recently because of a change in insurance plan (Loshin is not a MetLife preferred provider).

My experiences were positive . The quality of care, for both cleaning and major stuff, was always excellent. Charges were in line with "the industry". Loshin is a competent, friendly guy. Clair, the hygienist, is chatty to the point of being sometimes irritating -- but nice. Janette, the bookkeeper, only screwed up on one occasion. The surroundings are nice. The office recently (Feb 2005) moved to a new location: One Union Square (600 University St), Suite 828.

My initial workup resulted in detailed and costly recommendations, many of them unnecessary (as discovered by second opinion). When I declined an unnecessary treatment, the receptionist called to try to twist my arm, declaring all sorts of dire health consequences if I didn't get the treatment. That's when I sought out a new dentist.

Although this might have been a personal chemistry issue, I found the doctor to be condescending and cold.

I got a very strong feeling that his overriding concern was profit.

Dr. Loshin is a very competent dentist, and is dedicated to his profession. Unfortunately I have gotten better treatment at lower cost elsewhere. I get the impression Dr. Loshin cares a little too much about the business side of his practice. His long time dental hygenist is awesome though.

Great Dental Office and Dentist all around!

This is to report in that this office is indeed like a "5 star" hotel. The office is quiet peaceful and I am not kidding that this is 5 star but the prices are in-line with others.

I have visited many dentist offices, and this has been the nicest. Staff pleasant and Dr Loshin cares about his patients, staff - pride shows in his office and his work.

I would highly recommend this Dentist.

I am a little on the "High Maintainance" side. I ask a lot of questions, and don't hesitate to voice my opinion! David Loshin, along with his staff, satisfy my need to understand the what's and why's of what's going on. Also, they know I can be picky, and seem to care as much as I do about aiming for perfection. Taking care of my teeth is very important to me, and he takes it as seriously as I do.

In terms of costs, as I understand it he is within an established range that most all dentists fall in. As far the cosmetic work, which can often be mostly out of pocket, I think his costs are also in line with other Dentists.

Go to Loshin. Here's why:

Unfortunately, I have a long history of dental work. I have been to multiple dentists and specialists on both coasts. I had several complicated problems and implants which still needed work, when I was finally referred to Loshin. By far, he is the most gifted dentist I've seen, period. He is an extremely proficient, technically gifted perfectionist, and it shows in his work. I don't understand the negative reviews, except that You Get What You Pay For. After a lifetime of repeated dental visits to fix a history of imperfect work, I'm ready to have it done right-- the FIRST time.

office is nice, but everything was extremely expensive, and the quality wasn't that great. I had to come back to get my fillings worked on and ground down, and I have never had to do that with any other dentist. My bite has never been quite right since. Find someone else I'd say.

He tries to sell you EVERYTHING and more. Be warned he will put the full court press on you to get sealants on every possible tooth and then hand you an estimate for hundreds of dollars.

In fact, you may be overcharged and need to check with your insurance company BEFORE you pay. In my case, I prepaid and never heard from Loshin's office that I had in fact overpaid. It took my calling them to get them to admit they owed me money.

To me, that's just not acceptable. I even now question whether or not what Loshin recommends in terms of fillings, other treatments are actually needed or if he's just trying to work an angle.

I highly recommend against him.
