Case Description
Hello,
I'm a 30 year old woman that is slowly working to have all of my older dental work/fillings replaced. I have had three crowns in the past with the last one being about 4 years ago. I've been going to a new dentist because of location and was just given an estimate for $1395 (before insurance) for a porcelain/ceramic crown on my number 4 tooth. The last crown I had was on my number 3 tooth and it was roughly $800 (before insurance). My insurance does cover half of the cost.
I'm wondering if this is the standard price for this now? The tooth doesn't require any build up to this...just seems rather expensive. Any comments or suggestions? Also I wouldn't mind finding another dentist that accepts payments like my prior one did.
Thank you all for your time.
Bonny

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Hi Bonny, I understand your concern about the price of your crown. While it is expensive, the price you were quoted is in the range of normal for the Seattle area.If you would like a second opinion I would be happy to give you one at no charge and also to work with you to see what payment arrangements we could offer you. While paying a lot of money for one crown can be hard, it is important to remember that the crown should last you over 10 years (and probably a lot longer).Best Regards, Dr. Fligor

Cost Estimate: $ No Estimate at this time. Additional information required.
Hi Bonny,Our fees are not the highest or the lowest and our office stands behind our work. Our fee for porcelain crowns range from $1050-$1082. If a build up is required there would be an additional fee of $326. We ask for the patient portion at the time of the visit. With crowns we can break the patient portion into 2 payments. Half at the first appointment with the balance at the second appointment (approximately 15 days later as you will leave with a temporary crown and the second appointment will be for seating the permanent crown). We also work with ChaseHealthAdvance to offer No Interest Plans or Extended Payment Plans.

Bonny Yes, the average fee for a crown is over $1000 anywhere in Seattle. Our fee is $1204 for the crown if it does not need a buildup. Some dentists will accept payments, but usually not for longer than 90 days. I would be glad to take a look at your tooth and give you my suggestion for treatment at no charge. It really depends on how much tooth is left as to whether or not it needs a buildup. That is an extra $255. We have a cash discount too and can put together a payment plan up ot 90 days.
