When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
  • Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
  • Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description, special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
  • Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
  • Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors. Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

I guess it is a tooth on the lower jaw. This kind of pain may be experienced after numbness wears off. If this pain you experience when you are biting on the tooth - it may be just post procedural pain - it should go away within 7-10 days.

pain after root canal therapy, especially retreatments, is not unusual. unfortunately, it is a "wait and see" condition, as it normally resolves on its own.

however, retreats are sometimes done in a heroic effort to save a tooth that would be better off removed, and if the pain continues, there may be other issues. It would not be a matter of a poorly done root canal therapy, but simply a tooth that had other issues that were not apparent initially (like a fractured root).

I would give it some time before making any definitive decisions. For now, medication to manage pain may be needed.
